Has Morrisons’ new no-entry lane improved traffic flow?

It’s now some months since the first lane of the car park in Reigate Morrisons became “no entry”, in a bid to improve traffic flow.

The new signs and road markings appear to have been installed in October or November of last year.

In January reigate.uk asked Morrisons about the thinking behind the change.  A spokesperson said:

“Customers told us that at peak times they found it difficult to access the store car park. As a result, we have made changes to help improve the flow of traffic and reduce congestion.”

When the new restriction on the first lane was brought in,  many drivers appeared not to spot it, continuing to turn right immediately after entering the car park.

The final turning was already “no entry” (the one furthest from the camera in the picture above).
