Independent firm Hop Stop Beers is looking to open its new bar in Reigate in late May or early June, but hasn’t yet set a firm date.
The business will be located at the former La Lanterna at 73 Bell Street. Hop Stop already runs a shop in Oxted.
“We are excited about opening in Reigate and being part of a vibrant beer scene in the area,” Mike Ladyman, co-owner, said last week.
Mike described what customers can expect:
“It will be a bar, not a shop, but we are licensed for on- and off- sales, so customers could visit for a pint on site and then take beer away for later consumption.
Along with our draught offering we will have a range of bottled and canned beer, from the latest releases to classic ales.
While beer will be a large focus for our bar, we will also have cider, gin and other spirits, wine and of course non-alcoholic drinks available.”
“Reigate is a town that we have long wanted to be a part of: it is a vibrant, busy place and one we like to visit ourselves.
Even before we had opened our Oxted shop we had looked to open in Reigate and over the last few years have researched and visited properties there, none of which for various reasons had met our requirements.”
The ground floor at 73 Bell Street has been vacant since Italian restaurant La Lanterna closed around five years ago, after which developer Buxton Homes altered and extended the building, and put in two flats above.
