The Compassion Experience, an exhibition created by charity Compassion UK, is in Reigate this weekend, Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 March 2018.

The event has been organised by Reigate Baptist Church, and is being hosted by Reigate School, in Pendleton Road.  Opening times on the two days are 11am – 6pm.

Compassion UK , a child development charity, says:

“The Compassion Experience is a free, interactive exhibition space which invites you to encounter the sights and sounds of another world without leaving yours.

It will take you on an immersive journey of discovery into the lives of children living in poverty in Uganda and Ethiopia. You’ll get to step inside the real stories of two Compassion supported children, Shamim and Sameson, as they journey from poverty to hope.

Each journey takes around 20 minutes and will engage all your senses, as you listen to the inspiring, real-life stories of the children through head phones, while walking through a tactile and interactive re-creation of their homes and schools.”

There’s a video about the exhibition and further information on the event’s Facebook page.

Compassion UK, a Christian charity, says that over 1.8 million children attend Compassion’s church-based projects in 25 countries: “Sponsored children receive nutritious meals, emotional support, medical attention and the chance to get an education.”
