Perfume shop Jo Malone is coming to Reigate, according to job adverts and a planning application that’s been filed.
The proposed premises are 56, High Street – currently occupied by TEA. Carolynne Farrer has confirmed that they’ll be closing in the near future, but can’t yet give an exact date. The business remains open as normal.
Jo Malone, founded in 1994, has branches across the UK and abroad, offering fragrances, bath products and the like, for men and women. The business is part of the Estee Lauder group.
Job adverts for the new Reigate store are on the firm’s website.
As regards Jo Malone’s planning application, this looks to be at the less controversial end of the scale, even though the building is locally listed and in the Reigate Town Conservation Area. A covering letter notes:
“The external facade of the building will only be moderately altered and no works are proposed to the structure of the building.
The external works are sympathetic to the appearance of the building to ensure that the heritage status of no. 56 is maintained, and the character and setting of the Reigate Town Centre Conservation Area is preserved.”
The new signage will be non-illuminated, the letter also says.
Reigate & Banstead’s Conservation Officer has already given a favourable response, saying he has no objection other than wanting a sash window to remain cream or white.
We’ve contacted Jo Malone for comment, including as to timing.
