Scaffolding on the Knights building in Bell Street has now been removed, with the developer saying the new shops are on course to be ready this spring.
Waterstones and Oliver Bonas are taking the two ground floor units.
Marketing of the six flats on the upper floors is expected to start “soon”, Adam Coffer, director at developer St Dominics Properties, said last week.
The main planning and listed building consents were granted by Reigate & Banstead Borough Council last year. Further details have been going through the system: the internal layout of the shops and the signage for Oliver Bonas are currently under consideration by the council.
St Dominics purchased the Grade II listed building in January 2016, after the closure of the Knights of Reigate department store.
During the restoration and conversion work, St Dominics has emphasised its desire to preserve heritage features.
The building’s recent reappearance from behind the scaffolding has been welcomed on Twitter.
