Mountain Warehouse’s new outdoor clothing shop in Reigate’s High Street is due to open today, Friday 5 October.
Zakti, a subsidiary of Mountain Warehouse, occupied the site until last Saturday, selling “activewear” (exercise clothing).
Prior to its closure, Zakti ran an apparently successful “closing down” sale with just a couple of racks of clothes left on the final day.
The new store will continue to stock Zakti Activewear branded products, a spokesperson has confirmed, alongside Mountain Warehouse’s wider range.
Zakti didn’t have a particularly long stay in Reigate, opening in March 2016 (at what had been Clinton Cards). The Zakti brand was launched by Mountain Warehouse the previous year, 2015.
Neither Zakti nor Mountain Warehouse (who share the same London head office address) appear to have said anything online about the Reigate switch-over, although Zakti staff did provide details to customers in the shop who asked.
During its short one-week closure the shop has been advertising vacancies. Reigate.uk asked Mountain Warehouse whether Zakti staff were staying on but the spokesperson didn’t respond on that.
The spokesperson also didn’t say whether Zakti’s five other stores are being switched over, but the Islington store has the “closing down sale” signs, and the handover is being reported in Summertown (Oxford) and also in Chiswick.
