Nando’s is coming to Reigate, the restaurant company has confirmed, with opening planned for 2019.
The chicken chain has taken not only Prezzo’s former site at 59 Church Street, but also the floors above, reigate.uk understands.
Asked about its plans, a spokesperson for Nando’s said this morning:
“We’ve been looking at Reigate for a while now and know that there are a lot of Peri-Peri fans in the area.
The good news is that a new Nando’s will be coming to the area in 2019 and we can’t wait to begin work on the new restaurant.”
That’s a bit of a change from what Nando’s told reigate.uk just over a month ago on 3 August:
“We are aware that there are a lot of Peri-Peri fans in Reigate but unfortunately we have no current plans to open a restaurant in the area.”
The spokesperson said today that Nando’s normally only announces new restaurants a couple of months before launch, and that they try to play down rumours until everything is ready to confirm.
No details of the new restaurant’s layout are available yet on the licensing (or planning) registers, but the spokesperson said they would send over more information when they have it.
Prezzo closed in July this year, and Tony Tobin’s The Dining Room in August 2017.
