New school: some reception places still left

Hatchlands Primary School – located between Reigate and Redhill – is looking forward to opening its doors this September (2018) – and still has some spaces left in its two reception classes.

The free school will be based at the former law courts in Hatchlands Road, and is part of the Everychild Trust – which also contains Sandcross School.

Just for this first year, Hatchlands wasn’t included in Surrey’s main admissions system, but required a separate application.

Any prospective parents who didn’t get their first choice through the Surrey system are invited to give the headteacher, Chris Jowett, a call: he’s contactable via Sandcross on 01737 245467.

The school says:

“Hatchlands will offer a nurturing environment with smaller class sizes and a 100% focus on the children in our Reception cohort.

Every child will receive weekly Forest School experiences led by Headteacher, Chris Jowett, and the exceptional class teachers that we have appointed will work with your children to develop the most fantastic and engaging curriculum, rich with a variety of exciting learning opportunities.

Chris is in the privileged position of being a headteacher who is able to spend significant amounts of time in class working with your children and he will be teaching regularly throughout the week.

Hatchlands is part of the Everychild Trust which currently consists of Sandcross School and Hatchlands.

However, the Trust is growing steadily and 4 other great schools who share our inclusive values (Lingfield, Felbridge, Dormansland and Manorfield) are currently consulting with their parent community with a view to joining the Trust.

Working with these other schools as well as with all of the established schools in Redhill and Reigate will ensure that Hatchlands gets off to a brilliant start in September.

We are aware that many parents are disappointed that their child didn’t get a place at a school they wanted through the Surrey admissions service.

Fortunately, we do still have some spaces available in our two Reception classes for September so please contact Chris Jowett, via Sandcross School, on 01737 245467 to find out more.

Hatchlands will be unique and to be a part of our very special first cohort of children is an opportunity that rarely comes along.

Please do contact Chris and he can share his passion for the Hatchlands project and answer any questions that you may have.”

More information about the school is available on its website.
