Caffè Nero has said it will repair, later this year, water damage visible within the Grade II* listed Old Town Hall, Reigate.
The coffee-shop chain told reigate.uk: “We are currently looking into the water damage at our Old Town Hall store and are completing a full refurbishment later on this year as a result.”
The matter was originally raised at a borough council meeting on 16 April 2015, in a question from Cllr Christopher Whinney (Independent, Reigate Central). He had seen the water damage to the ceiling during a visit to the premises, and a council officer then looked into the matter.
John Reed, Reigate and Banstead Borough Council’s Property Services Manager, subsequently confirmed: “Caffè Nero have advised us that they are planning to carry out a refurbishment of the premises in the near future and will undertake any necessary repairs and cosmetic improvements to the property at that time.”
Caffè Nero leases the premises from the council.
