The Reigate branch of Italian restaurant Valentina, in Church Street, has closed.
The news was confirmed in a statement on the Reigate page of Valentina Fine Foods’ website, which added that loyalty points could be used at other branches.
A Get Surrey article on Saturday reported that the restaurant closed on Thursday 21 September. The article cited a spokeswoman as saying that the decision was based on factors such as changes in eating attitudes and the size of the town, that other branches were doing well, and that the firm would miss the town and its support.
A notice in the window of the restaurant, there as recently as Saturday afternoon, said that the restaurant was shut for refurbishment and maintenance until 1 October. However, the sign has now been removed.
We’ve asked Valentina’s head office for comment on the closure, but haven’t yet heard back.
Valentina doesn’t appear to have spoken about the news on Facebook or Twitter, but residents have posted in those channels to express their sadness at the closure.
