Remembrance services to take place across borough

Remembrance services will be taking place across Reigate & Banstead on Remembrance Sunday (8 November 2015) and Armistice Day (11 November 2015) including:

Remembrance Sunday, 8 November 2015, 10.30 for 11AM

Civic remembrance services at Shaw’s Corner (Redhill), Horley and Banstead War Memorials.  Information on Reigate & Banstead’s website.

The Council says on its Facebook events page:

“The service at the War Memorial on Shaws Corner, Redhill, will be attended by The Mayor, Councillors of the Borough and Justices of the Peace of the South East Surrey Local Justice Area.   This will be followed by a short service in Redhill United Reformed Church, after which there will be refreshments provided.  All welcome.”

Armistice Day Services, 11 November 2015, 10.45 for 11AM

Remembrance services with two minute silence followed by readings of borough’s war dead for 1915, and poems, by local school children at:

  • South Park War Memorial, Church Road, Reigate
  • Shaw’s Corner War Memorial, Redhill *
  • Memorial Park, Redhill
  • Banstead War Memorial *
  • Horley War Memorial
  • Kingswood War Memorial, St Andrews Church

*There may be access limitations at Banstead and Shaw’s Corner services due to their roadside locations.

Armistice Day Remembrance Service, Belfry Shopping Centre, 11 November 2015 – 11AM

The event will be supported by the local priest, the Royal British Legion, the Territorial Army and Cadets, and will include the Last Post, a two minute silence and a 60,000 poppy petal drop, followed by readings and buglers.  Information at The Belfry website.
