The local family behind charity campaign George and the Giant Pledge recently met Prince William, as he toured The Royal Marsden hospital in Sutton.
Woody and Vicki Woodall were at the hospital for an appointment for their son, George, 4. He’s undergoing treatment there for a rare tumour that was found near his spine last year.
Prince William was touring the hospital, as its president, and met patients and staff. Woody and Vicki chatted to him about George’s treatment, and the support they’ve received from everyone at the Marsden.
They also discussed their campaign, George and the Giant Pledge, which they set up last year to raise money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
And George handed over a picture of a crown for his royal namesake, Prince George – “to George from George”, as he explained.
George is shortly to have a major operation as the next stage of his treatment – there’s more on this, and the progress he’s made, in a Surrey Mirror article.
George and the Giant Pledge has now raised hundreds of thousands for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, and are aiming to make it £1 million. Donations can be made via a JustGiving page. News on the campaign and George can be found on a Facebook page.
