Wagamama in Reigate is scheduled to open on Monday 4 September, a spokesperson for the company said today.
The Japanese-inspired chain will be located at the former Edward Dean kitchen showroom, on the ground floor of 33-35 Bell Street. The site is on the corner with Bancroft Road, close to the cinema.
Planning and licensing permissions are for a restaurant seating 134 diners, with permitted hours of operation 9am – 11pm.
Wagamama began its bid to open in Reigate back in November 2015 with a planning application to change the use of the site from retail to restaurant.
Reigate & Banstead Borough Council turned that down, mainly because of a town centre policy on the minimum amount of retail frontage. Wagamama appealed and in February a planning inspector overruled the council, saying it should have made an exception.
