Reigate and Banstead Borough Council is seeking applications for “Star for a Night”, its annual talent show for young people.
According to the Council, the show will be looking for dance numbers, short drama, comedy sketches, music and singing. The auditions will take place on Sat 24 and Sun 25 January 2015 at the Harlequin in Redhill. The final shows will take place in April, also at the Harlequin.
Would-be applicants are reassured on the Council’s website that the panel “are not at all like the X factor” and that “no experience is necessary, just enthusiasm and commitment”.
The Council says that participants will receive free expert tuition in their chosen field, as well as benefitting from the experience of performing in front of a paying audience in the final shows. There is also an opportunity to win a one year scholarship to Urban Play dance classes or So You Wanna Be performing arts school. Participants must be aged 11 to 18, live or be educated in the borough, and be available to take part in an audition, the rehearsals and final shows.
Star for a Night is now in its fifteenth year.
The Council has a webpage setting out full details including a contact number for an informal chat as well as a downloadable application form.
