Wagamama says it will open its Reigate restaurant, on the corner of Bell Street and Bancroft Road, on Monday 13 November.
The news was given out on Twitter last week, and subsequently confirmed to us by a spokesperson.
Also, gas company SGN now says that no work for Bancroft Road is currently planned: there had previously been uncertainty about whether a new connection for the restaurant would need road or pavement works.
Wagamama’s battle to open in Reigate began around two years ago, with a planning application to change the ground-floor site (formerly the Edward Dean kitchen showroom) from retail to restaurant use.
The planning process lasted until February this year when the chain won an appeal to the Planning Inspectorate.
During the planning saga, a local petition in favour of the chain coming to the town gained over 1,300 signatures.
The new restaurant’s opening hours will be:
- Monday – Thursday: 11am-10.30pm
- Friday and Saturday: 11am-11pm
- Sunday: 11am-10.30pm
Wagamama recently requested a variation to its licensing permission, but only for minor changes to the restaurant’s layout.
