Those looking forward to the opening of Wagamama in Bell Street, Reigate will have to wait a little longer – it’s slipped back from the 4 September date previously indicated.
A spokesperson said yesterday that the opening is now set for October, but that no further information is available. More details will be given nearer the time.
Planning and licensing permissions at the former Edward Dean kitchen showroom are for a ground-floor restaurant seating 134 diners, operating 9am – 11pm.
Wagamama first filed a planning application for the site, on the corner of Bell Street and Bancroft Road, in November 2015, requesting a change of use from retail to restaurant.
But Reigate & Banstead Borough Council turned that down, mainly due to a policy on the minimum amount of retail frontage in the town centre. Wagamama appealed to the Planning Inspectorate and in February this year an inspector over-ruled the council.
