Bookseller Waterstones and lifestyle retailer Oliver Bonas are to occupy the ground floor of the former Knights department store in Bell Street, Reigate.
Developer St Dominic’s Properties – part of the EPF group – anticipates that the units will be ready for occupation in spring 2018.
Both the retailers have taken ten-year leases, with Waterstone occupying around 2,000 square feet and Oliver Bonas around 2,500.
St Dominic’s purchased the Grade II listed building in January 2016, following the closure of Knights of Reigate.
After obtaining planning permission and listed building consent, the company began work this year to convert the site into two shops with six flats above, while preserving historic features.
EPF Managing Director Adam Coffer said:
“Waterstones and Oliver Bonas are an absolutely perfect fit for the character and profile of this beautiful local landmark, given their exceptional customer experience. We are thrilled to welcome them to our property, which is a scheme we are enormously proud of.”
Katie Rees, Head of Property at Waterstones, said:
“We are exceptionally pleased to have secured a long-awaited shop in Reigate and look forward to opening our doors to customers in Spring 2018.”
A spokesman for Oliver Bonas said:
“We love Reigate and are thrilled to bring our curated fashion and homeware collections to the borough. New designs will land each week and we hope to see a positive reaction from customers.
We look forward to being part of the community for years to come.”
EPF says marketing of the flats at the development, known as Knights Court, is expected to begin next year.
