A new weekly artisan food and craft market launches in Tunnel Road, Reigate, on Saturday 26 May (2018).
Operator Tudor Markets has said on social media that hours will be 10am – 5pm, and stalls will include “arts & crafts” and “world food”.
Tudor won the contract to host markets in Redhill and Reigate last July, trumping two other bidders.
They were given a period to focus on the existing Redhill market, before setting up a monthly Reigate market (previous article here).
It’s not clear what’s led to the decision to now go with a weekly market, but that – and the decision to run it on a Saturday – will presumably help its chances of success.
In recent years a previous market ran monthly, on a Friday, but gradually declined in size.
Get Surrey has an article with more details on Tudor’s plans.
The article says the market will be for an initial trial period of four weeks: when asked about that, a council spokesperson said:
“We’re hopeful that the trial of the new Reigate artisan market will prove successful but if needed we will review and address the market offer.”

Tudor Markets has a Facebook event page for the Reigate market, and has also tweeted out details.
