Young writers invited to take part in short story competition

Children who live or go to school in Reigate & Banstead, in school years 5-9, are being invited to enter Reigate & Banstead Writes, a short story competition.

The contest is organised by Warwick School librarian Kay Hymas, with prizes donated by the Belfry shopping centre: first prize is a Kindle Paper White, with four other runner-up prizes.

Winning entries will also be read out on Susy Radio.

Stories – no more than 1,000 words – have to be in by 28 February 2019, and must be fictitious and set in the local area.

Details of how to enter and rules can be found via a Belfry webpage.  Entry forms are also available from local libraries, school librarians and branches of Waterstones.

This is the second time the contest has run: in its first year (2017), 402 youngsters entered.
