Santa Run goes virtual for 2020

David Grantham, 22 November 2020

YMCA East Surrey will this year be holding a virtual alternative to its highly popular Santa Run, given the coronavirus situation.

The charity has said: “Understandably, this year’s YMCA Santa Run will not be taking part in Priory Park, Reigate on Sunday 6 December, but that doesn’t stop you putting on your Santa hat/beard, taking part, having some fun and raising funds for YMCA East Surrey throughout December.

“Launch yourself into the festive season by completing a 1 or 3- mile run or walk anytime in December. The event is open to all ages and abilities – help spread Christmas cheer in what has been a tough year for all of us.

“Entry is just £6 per Santa and includes an official hat, beard and commemorative medal.

“All Santas completing their distance and raising a minimum of £10 will receive a congratulatory certificate. If you raise over £50, you will receive a bespoke YMCA bag of goodies.

“This year, more than ever, any money you raise or donate will go a long way to help the lives of local people who are really struggling in 2020.

“YMCA provides activities and programmes to help people of ages in the local community including housing support, counselling, disability schemes, children’s activities and online physical activity sessions plus much more.

“Together we can make this a Happy Christmas for everyone.”
