Ciao, says Prezzo as it closes its Reigate restaurant

The Reigate branch of Prezzo, in the High Street, closed last Saturday, 28 July (2018).

A sign in the window reads:

“Ciao from us!

Thank you for your loyalty and support over the years.

Although this location is now closed you can still visit other Prezzo restaurants near you.”

In March, the Italian restaurant chain embarked on a company voluntary arrangement, looking to cut costs.  Documents filed as part of the process said Reigate was one of a number of sites unprofitable at its current rent level, but which Prezzo planned to keep open with a rent reduction.

Reigate.uk has approached Prezzo’s head office for comment on the closure.

Surrey Live reports a staff member as saying that employees have been offered jobs at other locations.

The Redhill branch remains open.

There’s been a run of bad news for Italian restaurants in Reigate: Carluccio’s will close its branch in the High Street at the end of the year, and last September Valentina closed its Church Street location.
