Nominations have opened for the Reigate & Banstead Sports Awards 2022, run by Reigate & Banstead Borough Council in partnership with the Reigate & Banstead Sports Council.
Cllr Kanika Sachdeva, executive member for leisure and culture, said: “The Reigate & Banstead Sports Awards recognise the success of people, teams, clubs and coaches who excel or empower and motivate others to enjoy different sporting activities.
“They also acknowledge the vital role that sport can play in helping people of all ages keep mentally and physically fit.
“I encourage residents to nominate those who made an invaluable or inspirational contribution to local sport in 2021 – and I wish everyone nominated the best of luck.”
Eleven categories are available, to recognise outstanding contributions of both individuals and groups between 1 January 2021 and 1 January 2022:
- Volunteer of the Year
- Young Volunteer of the Year
- Changing Lives Award
- Sports Person of the Year
- Young Sports Person of the Year
- Coach of the Year
- Club of the Year
- Team of the Year
- Junior Team of the Year
- Senior Citizen Award
- Inclusive Sport Award
The nomination form is available online, along with information on the criteria. It’s free to enter, with forms needing to be completed by 30 January*.
All nominations will be considered and shortlisted by an independent panel of judges. Successful nominees will be informed and invited to a special awards evening on 21 February, expected to be held at the Harlequin Theatre, Redhill.
