Surrey County Council is reviewing its options for a former adult care home in Reigate, more than four years after deciding to close it.
The council’s reasoning was that the homes no longer met accommodation standards or changing needs, with a wider trend for nursing rather than residential care. In light of these and other factors, closure was seen as a better option than refurbishment.
Park Hall went on to close in summer 2017.
In response to a freedom of information request, the council said earlier this month that the site is currently in a review process for assets.
The council’s response said: “The county council is currently reviewing the long term opportunities that this site may afford via an appraisal process as part of the Asset & Place Strategy approved by the county council in April 2019.
“This appraisal review is aligned to the on-going service transformation reviews and a decision about longer term development opportunities will be taken once all business cases for possible re-use have been considered.”
