The Reigate branch of Lloyds Bank, at 4 High Street, will shut on 29 August 2019.

After the closure, the nearest Lloyds branch will be Redhill, with an information sheet from the bank also listing other local banking options.

The branch in Horley is also closing its doors on 22 August.

The information sheet for Reigate says:

“Our customers’ needs are changing. Over 14 million people now bank with us through Internet Banking and almost 10 million use Mobile Banking. Branches will remain vital in meeting customers’ needs but we must continually review our network to make sure we have branches in locations where customers need and use them the most.

As a result, we’ve made the difficult decision to close this branch due to customers using it less often. In addition, the majority of customers are also using alternative ways to bank and we have another branch close by.”

Reigate is only around half as busy as a typical Lloyd’s branch, with 288 customers using the branch “on a regular monthly basis”, according to the information sheet.  Counter transactions have fallen by 14% over the past year.

Just along the High Street, Santander is closing its doors on 13 June, and the Natwest site on the other side of the road is still vacant after it closed last summer.

Reigate has other banks of course: among them, Barclays had more positive news when it renovated its branch last year, and Skipton came to the town when it merged with the Holmesdale, also last year.
