Wray Lane, Reigate, is still closed to through traffic, but roadworks are expected to finish by the end of this week.
Dan Brown, spokesperson for gas distribution company SGN, said today (Monday 11 March):
“We’re continuing to carry out urgent repairs to our gas network in Wray Lane.
To ensure everyone’s safety on this narrow road, we’ve needed to close Wray Lane to motorists around our work area.
Our engineers have managed to carry out several repairs to our pipes so far, but we have further work still to complete.
We’re expecting to finish our repairs and carry out the required reinstatement enabling us to safely reopen the road by the end of this week.”
Despite its relatively small size, and much of it being one-way, the road forms an important route out of Reigate up to the A217 and M25.
Since the road’s closure around the start of this month, other routes such as Raglan Road have become busier, particularly during commuter peaks.
Information about the works can be checked on the roadworks.org website.
