Heavy rain on Monday afternoon caused flooding in Reigate town centre.  Bell Street and Morrisons car park were among the areas affected.

Reigate Grammar School Weather measured 36.6mm of rain during the day (updated 25 August).  That compares to a figure for the whole of August last year of 73.8mm.

Bell Street appeared to bear the brunt of the flooding, and police advised people to avoid the area or drive with caution.

In Priory Park the sunken garden became just that.  Problems in the wider area included flooding on the A25 to the west of Reigate, with delays running into the evening.

Ambulances were briefly diverted away from East Surrey Hospital at one point, due to partial flooding of A&E.  The damage was repaired, with the department again operating as normal.

The Met Office is currently forecasting further periods of rain this week.
