Temporary four-way traffic lights will be in place from Monday 27 July 2015 on the A217 at the junction of Cockshot Hill, Woodhatch Road, Prices Lane and Dovers Green Road.
Gas distribution company SGN has provided information about the works:
“We are working to upgrade the gas supply network in the Cockshot Hill area of Reigate.
We are investing £80,000 to replace our old gas mains and services with new durable plastic (polyethylene) pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply to the local area.
In consultation with Surrey County Council, we will start work on Monday 27 July. Our project will last approximately four weeks. We’ve planned to carry out this work during the school summer holiday to minimise disruption.
We will be working in Cockshot Hill at its junction with Prices Lane. For safety reasons, we need to replace the permanent traffic lights at this junction with temporary four-way lights around our work area.
We understand that people can get frustrated by roadworks. However, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means that when the work is complete, people will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.”
Signs at the junction say the works may only take around two weeks.
