Evening parking at Morrisons – signage to stay

New signs at the Morrisons supermarket car park in Reigate are set to stay, but free evening parking continues.

The new signs, installed earlier this month, say “2 hour max stay during store opening hours” and “free parking outside of store opening hours for all motorists”.  The store is open 7AM – 10PM Monday to Saturday, and 10AM – 4PM Sundays.

However, in answer to a query on the signage, Morrisons Head Office said:

The new signage you cite is standard to Morrisons and has been installed estate-wide. In the case of Reigate we are giving special dispensation for motorists to park from 7pm in the evening to 8am the next morning (4pm to 8am on Sundays).

Signage in Morrisons car park ReigateConfirmation has been given by Morrisons that on Sunday mornings the free parking period extends to 10AM.

Morrisons said it had no plans to include the local “special dispensation” on the signs.

Recently Morrisons explained that refunds would be given to those who incorrectly received evening “parking tickets” from 2 March 2015 (see our previous article).
